CLEANING OUT WINDOWS

1) Look on the desktop for the big blue: e.

2) Right click the e. Go down to properties and left click properties.

3) In the middle of this box it will say: Temporary internet files and there will be two boxes.

They will say [delete files] [settings].

4) Click on the [delete files] button.

5) Put a check in the box to delete all offline content.

6) Click OK.

7) Click on the [settings] button.

8) Here there is a box to adjust how much space is used for the temporary internet files.

9) Set this to 1mb (one). You don’t need to have it set any higher.

10) At the top of this page it will say:

Check for newer versions of stored pages. Make sure the (dot) is in the box next to where it says: Every visit to the page.

11) Click OK.

12) Under this it will say: History.

13) Make sure this setting is set on 0 (zero).

14) Click the button that says [clear history].

15) Click OK.

TO CLEAN OUT THE RECENT FOLDER:

1) Click on the [start] button.

2) Go up to settings.

3) Go over to control panel and down to task bar & start menu and click on it.

4) Click the start menu programs tab at the top of this box.

5) Near the bottom you will see it say: Documents menu and it will have a [clear] button here.

6) Click the [clear] button.

7) Click Ok.

TO CLEAN OUT THE TEMP FILE:

1) Go to: My Computer.

2) Go to: Windows Folder.

3) Go to: Temp Folder.

4) Click Temp Folder open.

5) Go to the word Edit at top of Temp Folder Box and click on it.

6) Scroll down to Select all and click on it.

7) Go to the word File at top of Temp Folder Box and click on it.

8) Scroll down to delete and click on it.

9) Close Temp Folder Box.

 

These steps should be done on a daily basis to keep your computer running smoothly.

If you use Netscape then you also need to open your Netscape Browser and click on Edit/Preferences. Then click on Advanced. Then click on Cache. Now click on clear Memory Cache. And click on Clear Cache Disk.
